What is the Vision Statement for your business going forward? Stephen Covey describes Vision as “…the ability to see beyond our present reality, to create, to invent what does not yet exist, to become what we not yet are.”

If you have been following this blog, you know I have pressed you to take some time to get to know yourself first. When you take the time to think about who you are now, and where you see yourself in the future it will be easier to create an inspiring Vision for your business.

Your Vision going forward will be influenced by how you have been challenged to date, and how prior decisions have brought you to this moment. However, not everyone feels they can clearly describe how they see themselves and what they want in words. Pictures or images, quotes, or other visuals may help you. Use whatever tools you need to get a clearer picture of what you want your evolving business to look like.

Try answering these question:

  • What are your current roles, e.g. parent, home manager, business owner…? Pick the roles you see yourself in today, and write them down. Some roles will need more emphasis going forward in order for your business to grow.
  • How do your roles influence your Vision for your business?
  • What values are important to you? Write them down, as any successful business must function in line with your values so you will be happy and successful.
  • Where do you see yourself in five or ten years?
  • What goals, if you accomplish them, will make you happy?

Your Vision is bigger than just making money. It must be the manifestation of principles and the way you want to show up in the world. When your Vision is focused on what you want to #bedohave it will keep you inspired.
